MIsta Mark

🇬🇧 Matteo Marcucci, also known as Mista Mark, is an illustrator and graphic designer and the creator of the triptych “Sciala POPolo”: three artworks representing three symbols of the city of Catanzaro, as seen through the eyes of those who live — or have lived — there.
His illustrations feature a distinctly underground style, reflecting the subcultures he feels connected to. It’s from the fusion of these subcultures with fresh, vibrant forms and colors, the influence of 1980s British pop music, and a nod to three internationally renowned artists — Andy Warhol, Mimmo Rotella, and Roy Lichtenstein — that the trio of works comes to life.
Mark breaks away from local clichés by asking himself how they would have portrayed the city he lives in.

🇮🇹 Matteo Marcucci, in arte Mista Mark, è un illustratore e graphic designer autore del trittico di illustrazioni “Sciala POPolo”: tre opere che rappresentano tre emblemi della città di Catanzaro per le persone che la vivono – o che l’hanno vissuta. Le sue illustrazioni sono di uno stile totalmente underground che riflette le subculture alle quali, in qualche modo, sente di appartenere. Ed è proprio dall’integrazione di queste, con forme e colori freschi e vivaci, la musica d’ispirazione della scena pop inglese anni ’80 e l’associazione a tre artisti di fama internazionale (Andy Warhol, Mimmo Rotella e Roy Lichstein), che nasce il trio di opere. Mark esce dagli stereotipi locali chiedendosi come loro avrebbero rappresentato la città in cui vive.
